Prestwick man denies ‘sex assaults’ on girls in Ayr

Jadgar Singh pleaded not guilty to two charges of sexual assault, and a third of attacking a female, when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week following his arrest in connection with the incident late last year.

The 68-year-old is said to have seized a teenage girl by her clothing, pulled down her top and exposed her breasts, on November 16, 2024 on Prestwick Road.

It is claimed that the accused, of Gray Street in Prestwick, then repeatedly punched her on the head.

It is said that Singh sexually assaulted a different teen girl, seizing her by the clothing and pulling down her top, exposing her breasts.

The charge states he then seized her by the hair, pulled her hair and repeatedly punched and slapped her on the head.

He faces a third charge of assaulting a third female complainer, allegedly repeatedly punching her on the body.

Defence solicitor Quentin Muir said his client pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared in the dock to face the allegations for the first time on Tuesday, January 7.

Further trial and intermediate diet hearing dates were set, with the accused granted bail under conditions not to approach or contact the three complainers.

He will face the allegations again at a later date.

A police spokesperson previously said: “A 68-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the alleged assault and sexual assault of two teenage girls on Prestwick Road, Ayr around 7.30pm on Saturday, November 16.

“He has been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
