Prague Symphony Orchestra at The Anvil, Basingstoke

The Anvil will welcome the renowned orchestra and its chief conductor Tomáš Brauner on Thursday, February 13 at at 7.30pm.

They will be joined by acclaimed pianist Gabriela Montero.

The evening will begin with Dvořák’s The Noonday Witch, a symphonic poem rooted in Czech folk tale.

The first movement is followed by a series of captivating variations on a march-like theme, culminating in a high-energy finale.

Arguments continue over the true meaning of Shostakovich’s most performed and recorded Symphony no 5, but it remains a work of extraordinary emotional and musical tension, poised on a knife edge between survival and disaster.

Tickets are priced at £45, £40, £34, £25, £17. Under 25s and f/t students £12 (includes £4 booking fee)
