Police have stepped up patrols and launched an investigation following reports of “random” assaults on women.
It comes after several claims on social media across the Crayford, Bexley and Sidcup areas.

There have been unconfirmed reports a man is “randomly attacking women from behind” and “likes cutting off hair”.
Bexley MPS tweeted: “We are aware of social posts regarding women being assaulted in the Sidcup area.
“We can confirm that there has been a report of one offence to police in relation to this which we are currently investigating.
“Please be assured we are that we are working hard to try and locate a suspect, and local officers have been tasked with high visibility patrols in these areas.”
One post which has circulated online warned: “To all the girls and women of Sidcup, be aware there’s a serial attacker who is randomly attacking women from behind. So far he has attacked five people and likes cutting off hair so please be careful.
“The lady who was attacked last night was badly beaten. So be aware the attacks are getting more violent.”
Bexley MPS said anyone with information should call 111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or report it online.
