Dr Helen Perryman-Smith opened Pawsitive Vet Care last month and has been delighted with how “well-received” it has been in the local community.
She said that despite some unavoidable delays, including Storm Darragh, the new clinic has been a big hit with customers.

“Our practice is designed to reduce stress with spacious consulting rooms, a waiting area to reduce eye contact between animals and comfortable kennels for animals who need to stay in the hospital.
“Cats, rabbit and other small mammals have their own dedicated areas to reduce their exposure to the sight and smell of dogs to help make the experience as stress-free as possible.”
The vets has already been a huge hit with customers (Image: Handout) Dr Perryman-Smith graduated from The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 2009 and has spent the last 15 years working in small animal care including practices in Kent, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
She set up Pawsitive Vet Care Home Visit Vet in 2018 which provided home visits to pets in the Warwickshire area.
After closing the business in January 2023 when she relocated to Kidderminster, Dr Perryman-Smith was eager to take on a new challenge and open her own clinic which is located at unit 142 on the Hartlebury Trading Estate.

My husband is from Kidderminster so we ended up relocating and I shut my home visit business.
“We then had a baby in the meantime and I worked at Shepherd’s Vets whilst I was pregnant. I have always loved the idea of opening an independent vets so when I saw the unit in Hartlebury, I knew I’d found the perfect place.”
The vets caters for small mammals including dogs, cats, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits and more (Image: Handout) Dr Perryman-Smith remains focused on providing the best possible treatment to the animals in her care and has paid particular attention to the interior design of the clinic.
This includes making sure that nothing is too bright or white and by installing wood-effect furniture to create a natural and homely feel.
She added: “We are grateful to have been so well-received by the local community with several people just popping in to say hello.
“Our first patients have appreciated the calm atmosphere and several have accepted treats for the first time at a vet practice which demonstrates how much more relaxed they are.”
