Now That’s What I Call Drag to return to The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds with Victoria Scone as headliner

A special drag birthday show is set for a return to a Suffolk town with a ‘fantastic’ headliner and UK star.

Now That’s What I Call Drag is celebrating its third birthday at The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday, April 26.

The event is co-hosted by Knuckle Sandwich and Will Power, an East Anglia drag duo who have been producing the show across the east of England since the start of 2022, first debuting at The Hunter Club in April of the same year.

They have produced over 100 shows to date and worked with some of the top UK drag acts at their shows.

Knuckle Sandwich, whose real name is Matt Squance, said: “It feels fantastic to have built up the show over the last three years and to celebrate another milestone.

“The show has continued to evolve and progress, and the community of acts and audiences that we’ve come to build relationships with and gotten to know has been a real blessing.

The birthday show is on Saturday, April 26, at The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds

“It goes to show that there is so much more to doing these events than just what we do on stage, but how it has built community and safe spaces for those around us.”

There will be a range of lip sync artists and vocalists as well as some audience games to get involved in and lots more on the night.

Matt said: “We will be bringing a whole lineup of fantastic acts who represent the finest in East Anglia, alongside Victoria Scone who will be bringing some killer performances to the stage.

“It’s always full of love and laughter and we’ll be adding a few little birthday show surprises to the mix too.”

Victoria Scone, who was the first cisgender female contestant on any series of the Drag Race franchise, will be the headliner of the event to the delight of Matt and Lauren Bryant (Will Power).

“We are a show that is co-produced by a drag 1ueen and a drag king, and we’ve always included female performers in our shows, whether they be kings, queens, burlesque acts or anything in-between,” Matt said.

“This representation is not frequently highlighted on Drag Race, so to have Victoria’s presence as a cis-gendered woman who not only does drag, but has done it very successfully on a huge platform and join us in Bury St Edmunds, feels very correct.

“We couldn’t be more excited – she is a fantastic talent and a lovely person and we know she’s just as excited as we are.”

Tickets for the show start from £14 and are available at either eventbrite.co.uk or wegottickets.com.

Doors open at 8pm.
