The Hazeley Group’s first-ever Community Grant Scheme was set up to help initiatives in Twyford and the surrounding areas.
The grant panel, which included Hazeley Group representatives Nikki Bream and Amanda Gregory, Joanne Everest from Park tenants Jude’s Ice Cream, and village residents Roger Walker and Carola Breuning, met on December 5 to assess applications.
Of the 11 submitted, nine projects were awarded funding.

These include Twyford St Mary’s C of E Primary School, which will use the money to buy new thesauruses, and Twyford Playgroup, which will purchase educational toys and outdoor construction bricks.
Twyford Ladies Club will use the funding to help with the cost of their monthly meetings, while the 1st Guides Twyford will use the money to help volunteers attend an international Girl Guide event.
The Ballard Close Recreation Ground will use the funding to jet wash their facilities, and the Twyford Waterworks Trust will buy hand tools for volunteer projects.
The Twyford Bowls and Lawn Tennis Club will use the money to buy heavy-duty shelving, and Twyford Parish Hall will purchase 20 new chairs.
Twyford Cricket Club will buy equipment for their junior section.
Nikki Bream said: “We’re proud that our grants will benefit such a wide variety of community activities.
“These awards will support residents from early years to active seniors, from education to recreation.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact these projects will bring in 2024.”
The Community Centre CIC was offered alternative support to address its asbestos removal challenges through the expertise of Hazeley Group’s developments director Andrew Uwins.
A request to fund a start-up table tennis club was encouraged to reapply in the future once plans are further developed.
The next Community Grant Scheme will open in September 2025.
