Newbury man launches innovative platform connecting music acts and venues with first live event

Alex Day of Sync-Quest, an innovative platform linking music acts and venues, has news of an upcoming event in Newbury town centre.

Sync-Live

The Sync-Live: An Open Stage Experience is taking place at The Club Bar and Lounge in Cheap Street, on Friday, January 31, from 7pm to 11pm, featuring two live acts and six talented DJs bringing a vibrant mix of pop, funk, disco, house, dubstep, and drum & bass.

Entry is free, and Sync-Quest founder Alex – a music enthusiast who understands the challenges new artists face in the industry – promises “an unforgettable night showcasing emerging local talent”.

The line-up for this first event will include live acts MXP, with Lucy Bell as the lead singer; Mike Hawthorne, delivering a live guitar performance and DJs Alleyne, Kaleidoskapes, Adam Dance, Decadance, Luski and Gordy.

Alex, who lives in Newbury has a deep-rooted passion for music, has worked as a DJ, but is now dedicating time to developing the platform he set up last year.

Sync-Quest is a free platform designed to support emerging artists by connecting them with venues in need of live acts or DJs. Musicians can gain bookings, develop their skills, and grow their careers without any upfront costs or barriers.

“My personal experiences in the music industry, particularly the challenges in securing bookings, inspired me to establish Sync-Quest.

“This platform aims to bridge the gap between venues and artists, streamlining the booking process and supporting emerging talent.

“Music has been a vital outlet for my creativity and has played a significant role in overcoming personal challenges. This understanding drives Sync-Quest’s commitment to supporting mental health workshops and fostering social inclusion.”

Sync-Quest was officially registered at the end of August and in a short time, without any marketing expenditure, has attracted more than 50 artists across the UK, with some interest from the US although our current operations are UK-focused.

“The platform addresses the need for accessible opportunities in the music industry, allowing venues to discover and book talent affordably through pay-as-you-go options or tiered plans.

“By eliminating the reliance on expensive agencies that often charge substantial fees, Sync-Quest ensures that artists retain 100 per cent of their set fees.”

Additionally, 10 per cent of all the fees that venues pay to Sync-Quest is reinvested into community-driven workshops focused on music, mental health, and skill-building, empowering artists to thrive in a competitive industry.

“We’re making an impact,” Alex explains, “by empowering artists – the platform is free for them to join and use, helping them secure paid opportunities to perform.”

They are supporting venues, who can easily discover and book talent through a pay-as-you-go system (from just £9) or via subscription plans tailored to regular events.

And they are giving back to communities as 10 per cent of all fees go into a community fund, enabling them to host workshops that teach individuals valuable skills and create opportunities for them to use Sync-Quest to secure gigs.

“We believe Sync-Quest is not just a tool for talent discovery but a movement to nurture creativity, improve mental health, and strengthen communities,” says Alex.
