New vegan kitchen is latest addition to Salisbury Market

Julia Tregellas has ‘always loved cooking’ and let her passion for vegan food become her business in 2021.

Julia opened on Tuesday, January 14, where despite the chill in the air, customers are coming over to locate the smell of her Sri Lankan daal (coconut, lentils, mountains of spices) as we speak.

She became vegan twenty years ago and describes the lifestyle choice as an ethical preference as Julia believes ‘nothing should die for me to live… [with, of course, the] added bonus of benefiting the climate.’

Lunchtime choices at Julia’s vegan kitchen (Image: Newsquest) On offer at the new stall, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, is the Sri Lankan dal, paella, Mexican black beans and sweet potato with breakfast featuring apple and cinnamon muffins, granola bars and vegan sausage baps.

Where possible, Julia tries to ‘source locally especially through farmers markets’ meaning most of her food is created from local produce. Through this new stall and plans for group orders such as offices, Julia is hoping to expand her business.

With Veganuary in mind, Julia says ‘you never know till you try’ whether veganism is for you or not.
