Documents reveal that Time to Swim could be based on Causeway Business Park, which is located just off Wilderpool Causeway.
It is an industrial site that hosts a variety of businesses, including vehicle repair, electrical appliance and cleaning product sales.
Time to Swim has submitted plans to open an 18m long swimming pool there. There would also be a toilet, changing facilities, and visitor viewing areas.
According to documents, the accommodation will be mostly arranged on the ground floor, with a small mezzanine for parents to view from.
It comes after the business has identified a demand for swimming lessons within the borough, due to a ‘lack of capacity and provision’.
Plans read: “The business will not only focus on younger years learning but is aiming to provide accessible facilities for wheelchair users as well as other specialist groups.
“The premises will be catering mainly for children in the weekdays after school so opening hours will be between 4pm and 8pm.
“The benefit this has is the minimal overlap with the more traditional 9-5 businesses on the site.
“This means that much of the parking will be available for parents of whom it is estimated there will be a maximum of 18 cars at its busiest times.
“The fact that the business park will be generally very quiet with few or no other traffic movements will be an additional advantage.
“As the business develops it will provide classes for lane swimming for local businesses and local residents, aquafit etc. and school swimming classes which would only need space for two or three minibuses at a time.
“Initially the sessions will be taking place during the week but the intention is to expand into the weekends once the business becomes established.”
If plans are improved, the business will be employing two full time members of staff, and 12 part time members.
