New Starbucks to open at Winchester EV superhub on A34

The café, which is due to open this spring, will be located at the InstaVolt superhub just off the A34 at Three Maids Hill.

The opening is part of a partnership between InstaVolt and Starbucks licensee Cobra Coffee, with the new café being the first stand-alone partner to provide refreshments at an InstaVolt hub.

“This will be the first on-site refreshment partnership for InstaVolt at one of our superhubs.

“It will also be the first time Cobra Coffee, a Starbucks UK franchised business partner, has provided a Starbucks café at an EV superhub.”

The Winchester superhub, which is easily accessible from the M3, will have 44 accessible charging bays, including extra-long van bays and drive-through bays for towing vehicles.

It will also have a children’s play area and toilets, which will be available 24/7.

Mr Lane said: “We are delighted to be able to work with globally recognised brands to be able to offer our drivers a great charging experience. In addition to the Starbucks café, amenities at this flagship site will include a children’s play area and toilets available 24/7.

“As well as the convenience of contactless payment and an ultra-rapid, reliable charge, families will be able to enjoy a break while the kids can stretch their legs in the play area. Everyone can recharge and be back on the road in no time.”

The new café is expected to create 14 new jobs.

Mark Smith, group CEO of Southern Co-op, owners of Cobra Coffee, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing the Starbucks experience to the UK’s largest rapid EV superhub, creating 14 new jobs and playing our part in de-carbonising travel.

“We have a real ambition across all our businesses to act on climate change so alongside access to renewable and fast charging, our site will be built to high environmental standards where customers will not only be able to recharge their cars, but also personally, with their favourite Starbucks beverages and food.”

The Winchester superhub is part of InstaVolt’s mission to install 11,000 ultra-rapid chargers in the UK and Ireland.
