Mystery surrounds the appearance of unusual lights in the sky on January 1st, just before a breathtaking display of the Northern Lights.

Neil Dawson who was on his early evening dog walk, witnessed the mysterious lights while out at Flamborough Head during tea time.
“I noticed it right away as it was the only thing in the sky,” Neil remarked.

“It was too early for stars, and it was just there by itself. I’m not sure what it was.
“I’m not a believer in ghosts or aliens, but this has got me thinking about what it could have been.”

Neil also checked his flight tracking app, only to find no aircraft in the area, adding to the sense of mystery surrounding the shimmering lights.
“It was strange because there seemed to be nothing flying at the time,” he said, reflecting on the unusual occurrence.

His daughter captured pictures of the lights: “She hasn’t stopped talking about it since I showed her the images.”
The coinciding event of the Northern Lights shortly after the sighting has led to speculation that it could be a meteorite – with some trying to gather information about the strange phenomena.

While some chalked it up to natural atmospheric phenomena, others are left pondering the unexplained.
As residents hope for more clear skies, many will be keeping a watchful eye for any further celestial surprises in the coming days.
