Music legends to bring smooth blues to Torquay

Paul Jones & The Derek Nash Band are bringing an unmissable evening of rhythm and blues classics to Torquay.

On Sunday, March 9, at 7.30pm, The Livermead House Hotel in Torquay will come alive with the sound of blues and R&B as Fougou Music presents Paul Jones & The Derek Nash Band.

Paul Jones, lead singer of Manfred Mann, has been a household name since the 1960s. His television credits include Z Cars, Space 1999, and The Sweeney, and he has hosted the BBC Radio 2 Blues programme for an impressive 32 years.

In 1979 he founded The Blues Band, which helped kick start another boom in blues music.

He is the voice of worldwide hits Do Wah Diddy Diddy, 5-4-3-2-1, and Pretty Flaming, and maintains a busy touring schedule as part of The Manfreds.

Derek Nash has won the British Jazz Award and is an acclaimed bandleader, composer, arranger, record producer, and engineer.

The leader of six unique brands featuring some of the top jazz musicians in the UK today, he could be one of the UK’s busiest jazz musicians.

With his bands, the Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion, he has shared the stage with a great many artists, including Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, David Sanborn, Jack Bruce, Amy Winehouse, Michael Buble, and Sir Paul McCartney.

He is one of the most in-demand and respected guest instrumentalists for jazz clubs across the UK.

The full lineup for this performance includes Paul Jones (vocals and harmonica), Derek Nash (saxophone), Denny Ilett (guitar), Jim Watson (organ), and George Double (drums).

As well as playing the classics, the evening promises some gems from the Manfred Mann and Blues Band back catalogues as well as some original material.

Tickets are priced at £29.50 for adults and are available in advance online at www.fougoumusic.com. Doors open at 7pm with music starting at 7.30pm.
