It comes as one person asked in the Facebook group ‘Mrs Hinch Cleaning tips’ earlier this month: “What is the quickest and easiest way to defrost a freezer please?”
It’s important to defrost your freezer every now and again because the walls of ice that build up make it more difficult for your freezer to work efficiently (and increase your energy bills).
Plus, the ice can take up a lot of space, meaning you will have less storage for food and meals, reports The Kitchn.
Is it cheaper to cook with an air fryer or oven?
There were nearly 100 comments with suggestions and advice from fellow cleaning enthusiasts on the Facebook group, so let’s see what they had to say.
How do I defrost my freezer quickly?
The most popular method for defrosting a freezer in no time at all, which won’t cost you a penny was putting a warm bowl of water inside the freezer.
Someone shared: “Bowl og [of] hot water with the door shut and a towel at the bottom.”
Another who had been using this hack for more than three decades said: “I always use bowls hot water, towels at bottom and encourage the ice with a wooden spatula. It’s very quick. I keep changing the hot water. Done like this for 34 years.”

This profile also commented: “Unplug it. Put bowls of boiling water on the shelves. towels on the bottom to soak up water close the door. Change water in the bowls frequently.”
One Mrs Hinch fan agreed: “Turn it off ,boil the kettle and fill bowl n then put the bowl of water inside and close the door and repeat until defrosted.”
Additionally, another highly recommended tip was to use a hairdryer.
A member of the group replied: “Unplug it and use hairdryer, catch water with towels.”
