The group said: “In England and Wales, we are lucky to have a 140,000 mile network of public rights of way, available for everyone to enjoy all year round and used daily by the public for exercise, travel and to connect with nature.”
Dr Chambers stopped for coffee and mince pie as he discussed his love of walking and appreciation of the countryside.
He awarded new walk leaders with an Ordnance Survey map for their efforts.
Dr Chambers said: “We need to encourage these kinds of things, as it’s brilliant for the individuals and also saves the NHS a lot of money.”
