There are 16 stations in Worcestershire that serve trains heading in every direction.
But some trains stations find themselves to be much more popular with travellers than others, whether it is down to location, availability or services.
Here are the stations with the most and least visitors each day.
Most used stations in Worcestershire
Worcester Shrub Hill- 1,444
Unsurprisingly, Worcester Shrub Hill is the less often used stations in Worcester, despite offering the same services, likely due to its location.
Bromsgrove- 1,621
Acting as one of the two southern terminus for Birmingham’s Cross-City Line, a popular commuter service used by people who work in the second city, but choose to live further afield.
Bromsgrove is also a stop on the Cross Country services from the South West and Wales to Scotland.
Redditch- 2,325
The other southern terminus for the Cross-City Line is Redditch, where around 700 more people each day use the station compared to Bromsgrove.
This is likely due to the fact that the line has served Redditch since 1980, whereas regular services from Birmingham to Bromsgrove only began in 2018.
Kidderminster- 3,092
Kidderminster’s services allow travellers to reach Worcester in less than 30 minutes and central Birmingham in less than 45 minutes, making it an ideal commuter station for people who want to live somewhere smaller than where they work.
Worcester Foregate Street- 4,789
The busiest station in Worcestershire by a large margin is Worcester Foregate Street.
Passengers can head to Birmingham or Hereford in under an hour, to Bristol in under two hours and London in less than two and a half hours.
Least used stations in Worcestershire
Evesham- 708
Despite being the closest station in Worcestershire to the capital, and the town boasting a similar population to Bromsgrove and Droitwich Spa, Evesham is one of the least used stations in the county.
This is likely to just one service in each direction stopping in the Vale every hour during off-peak periods.
Alvechurch- 414
The penultimate stop of the Cross-City Line before the service reaches Redditch, Alvechurch serves the village of the same name on the border of Worcestershire.
In 2014, a second railway line and platform was added to Alvechurch so more trains could run towards Redditch every hour.
Pershore- 278
Like Evesham, Pershore only serves one train in each direction every hour.
However, given Pershore is significant smaller than Evesham in terms of population, it is unsurprising to have fewer users in comparison.
Blakedown- 242
The village of Blakedown sits between the much larger stations of Kidderminster and Hagley and is only relevant to the people of the village of Blakedown or anyone visiting the village.
As a result, it sees less than 2,000 passengers each week.
Hartlebury- 140
The least used station in Worcestershire is Hartlebury, which sits between Kidderminster and Droitwich.
Like Blakedown, its location only makes it useful for people visiting Hartlebury or the people living there, which is estimated to be just 2,500 people.
