Moray primary school and nursery registration for new school year opens

Registration for Moray children who will be starting primary school or nursery in August 2025 has officially opened.

Parents and carers have until January 24, 2025 to complete their child’s online registration.

Registration is now open for kids eligible to attend primary school or nursery in Moray.

If your child will be five years old on or before August 20, 2025, or if they turn five between August 20, 2025 and February 28, 2026, they are eligible to register online for Primary 1 in August 2025.

However, it is not just about school places – anyone with a child aged three or four, or eligible two-year-old who is entitled to funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) hours, can also be registered during this period.

It is important to note that the available hours at each ELC setting or childminder may differ, so parents and carers should check the hours being offered prior to choosing their setting during registration.

The entire process, including any placing requests, must be done online. Parents/carers need to upload a copy of their child’s birth certificate and proof of address as part of the registration.

Anyone requiring guidance on how to obtain a birth certificate, simply visit the Moray Council website for all the information.

The entire registration process is online, meaning there is no need to visit schools or nurseries in person.
