Moonrakers Judo Club, in Salisbury, has announced the new initiative for 2025 after a year of success.
The club, founded by Sensei Peter Blakemore in 2001, has seen its members excel in various competitions throughout 2024.
The club’s judoka has bagged medals at the London Open, British Junior Championships, English Open, and English Junior European Cup.
They have also performed well at the Hampshire Open, Western Area Schools, Western Area International, Craig Fallon Memorial, and Kent International Masters.
One of the club’s standout performers, 18-year-old Cordelia Quinlan, won a silver medal at the Victoria State Championships in Australia.
This achievement has brought international recognition to the club.
Quinlan’s success comes ahead of her upcoming sports scholarship at Liverpool University.
To build on this momentum, Moonrakers Judo Club is launching a six-week beginners’ course starting on January 11, 2025.
The course will be led by 2nd Dan instructor Tom Cowie and will provide an introduction to the Olympic sport.
Sensei Blakemore said: “Our success stems from our inclusive approach to training.
“We welcome students from age 7 with no upper age limit, because judo truly is a sport for life.
“Our coaching team is dedicated to developing each individual’s potential, whether they’re pursuing competitive success or personal development.”
Training sessions are held at Godolphin Sports Hall, Bellamy Lane, Salisbury, on Saturdays from 9am to 10.30am and Wednesdays from 6.30pm to 8pm.
