Mentoring charity talk at Spittal SWI

Tina Hamilton, community engagement officer with MCR Pathways, was a guest of Spittal SWI.

The president, Anne Gunn, welcomed a good turnout of members to the January meeting of Spittal SWI and wished everyone a Happy New Year.

After business had been attended to, and arrangements made for a whist drive on January 31, Anne welcomed Tina Hamilton, community engagement officer with MCR Pathways.

MCR Pathways is a national mentoring charity appealing for volunteer mentors from all walks of life to inspire young people.

Tina gave an insight into becoming a mentor and passed round leaflets, while each member was given a bag and a pen. She answered many questions from the members.

Tina joined Linda Levack in judging the competitions.

Results – Three pieces of Biscoff rocky road: 1 Elizabeth Holman; 2 Liz Hewitson; 3 Ruth Manson; 4 Heather Carberry.

Item of handmade jewellery: 1 Anne Gunn; 2 Sarah Holman McGillivray; 3 Margaret Bremner; 4 Kate Davies.

Tea hostess was Liz Hewitson and the raffle winner was Heather Carberry.

The meeting was funded by Halkirk District Benefit Fund.
