The memorial service for a renowned animal rescue charity founder will take place later this month.
Suffolk and Essex Small Animal Welfare (Sesaw) announced the funeral for its founder, Madeleine Jackaman – more commonly known as Maggie – will be at St Mary the Virgin Church, in Stoke-by-Nayland, on January 15, from 10.30am.
Maggie was known for running Sesaw from her home in Leavenheath for more than 30 years, during which time she helped care for and rehome thousands of small animals, prior to the organisation’s closure last year.
Maggie Jackaman dedicated 30 years of her life to Sesaw.
A statement from the charity confirmed all the remaining animals which had been in its care have now been successfully rehomed.
“It has been three weeks since we shared the devastating news that our much-loved founder, Maggie, had passed away,” the statement read.
“It has been a very sad and difficult time for all who knew and loved her.
“Our heartfelt thanks for all the lovely tributes that confirmed what we all knew: that Maggie was one in a million.
“Maggie achieved so much in her lifetime. So many animals saved and so many families blessed by the pets that came into their lives through Sesaw.
“There is no doubt that Maggie and her beloved Sesaw will never be forgotten.”
