While fireworks could be heard exploding in the sky to commemorate the start of 2025, three baby girls and one baby boy were born on New Years Day in Warrington.
We spoke to three of the families who met their new arrivals as the start of a fresh year began.
Our first mum who welcomed her newborn baby girl into the world on the afternoon of January 1 is Reeni Jacob.
Reeni, from Warrington, gave birth to her daughter at 4.28pm in the afternoon.
‘I went into labour on New Years Eve’
Mum Francesca and dad John pictured with baby Christopher (Image: Supplied) Francesca Pittman, from Golborne, gave birth to her baby boy Christopher Norton in the early hours of New Years Day.
The 26-year-old first time mum told the Warrington Guardian how she went into labour on New Years Eve and her bundle of joy was born at 3.13am on Wednesday, January 1.
Her and dad John Norton had been given a due date of January 6, but her baby boy had other plans, arriving a little earlier than expected and weighing 7lb 11oz
Speaking on how baby Christopher is getting on since the birth, Francesca said: “He is good, he is quite chilled out. This is our first born.”
The pair are now settled back at home and taking in every moment with their new addition to the family.
‘I heard the fireworks and then it started’
Mum Courtney with daughter Connie and newborn Poppie (Image: Supplied) Courtney Price, from Lower Walton, recalled hearing New Years Day fireworks going off at midnight, also signalling the start of her going into labour.
The 30-year-old had a set due date for January 2, but was able to meet her newborn girl Poppie Grace Price a day early.
“I went into labour at 3am, just after midnight,” Courtney explained. “I heard the fireworks and then it started.”
Poppie was born at 4.03pm in the afternoon at Warrington Hospital on New Years Day, weighing 7lb 2oz.
Courtney added: “Poppie is find, she is eating well and sleeping well. We came out of the hospital yesterday at lunchtime.”
‘She is perfect’
Newborn Millie Kelly (Image: Supplied) Last but not least, we spoke to newly mum-of-three Kerry-Anne Gillespie, from Orford.
Kerry and her partner Anthony Kelly, from Orford, welcomed their baby girl Millie Kelly at 11.04pm on the afternoon of New Years Day – 17 days earlier than expected.
She weighed 6lb and 1oz at birth.
The 33-year-old told the Warrington Guardian that her due date was set for January 18, but her third daughter had other plans.
Between the pair, Kerry is also mum to four-year-old Isabelle and two-year-old Esme and Anthony is father to eight-year-old Jasmine.
Recalling the lead up to labour, Kerry said: “I went into hospital for a scan in the morning and they said come back in at two o’clock. She was born that night.”
Touching on welcoming another girl into their family, Kerry laughed when referring to her partner’s hopes of having a boy to go and watch play rugby, having been a rugby player himself previously.
“I said, you will just have a girl rugby player instead,” she added, noting how happy they both were to meet their newborn daughter.
“It is weird, it is only just sinking in that we have a New Years Day baby.”
