Archie York died when a blast tore through homes on Violent Close in Benwell in the early hours of October 16.
Mourners watched on as a horse-drawn hearse carried Archie’s small coffin, painted with Marvel characters, into the West Road Cemetery on Tuesday (January 7).

Horses wore drapes marked with Archie’s name and pictures of Marvel characters, while mourners were asked to follow the same dress scheme at the family’s request.

A toy car and helmet were placed on top of the coffin, which was taken into the chapel to tears from Archie’s loved ones.
Members of the Northumbria Police mounted section also attended in a show of respect to the youngster who wanted to be a police officer when he grew up.

His family released a new picture of Archie in police uniform after his funeral.

“Our cheeky son had a heart of gold, and being in a world without him is a nightmare we can never wake from.

“Everyone loved Archie, and we would like to thank the whole community for their ongoing support.”
Archie also leaves behind the grandparents of Joanne, Maxine, Michael, and Euan.

While mourners were gathered remembering him just before midday, Reece Galbraith was appearing before Newcastle Crown Court charged with his manslaughter.

The 33-year-old is also charged with the manslaughter of 35-year-old Jason Laws, and producing and supplying cannabis between April 15 and October 17 last year.
He denied all of the charges and was a trial date of May 12 was set.
Jason Laws, 35, will be laid to rest on Friday (January 10).
