Man hospitalised after ‘stabbing’ on Stockton street

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene at the junction of Norton Road and Windmill Terrace in Stockton at about 11.30pm on Friday (January 17).

They found a 39-year-old local man with injuries to his stomach, hands, and leg, police said.

He was taken to North Tees General Hospital and a huge cordon was erected.

Pictures, which we have chosen not to show, show a large amount of blood on the pavement and garden wall outside a property.

Forensic officers in white suits were seen photographing the scene and placing evidence markers, while officers were carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

The seriousness of the man’s injuries has not been confirmed.

A Cleveland Police statement said: “At 11.30pm on Friday, January 17 police were called to Norton Road in Stockton following reports of a stabbing near to Windmill Terrace.

“The 39-year-old local man was taken to North Tees General Hospital with injuries to his stomach, hands and leg.

“Officers have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and anyone who may have information, CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting reference number 009794.”

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service added: “We received a call 11.29pm last night (January 17) to attend an incident at a private address in the Stockton area.

“We dispatched a paramedic crew who treated one patient with injuries from a suspected assault before taking them to hospital.”
