A suspected drink driver tried to flee after crashing his car into a Leytonstone pub yesterday (19th December).
Police officers were called to the Heathcote and Star on Grove Green Road at around 12pm yesterday to reports of the car collision.
The pub was evacuated as a precaution due to the damage caused by the crash. It reopened shortly after however.
Pictures of the scene shared with the Echo show the car rammed into the side of the pub, leaving smashed windows, and a destroyed side door. A portion of the pub’s green tiled wall was also destroyed.

Meanwhile, the damaged Audi A4 Avant’s right front wheel appears to have come off, while there is heavy damage to the car bumper and number plate.
The driver fled the scene but was found by officers nearby shortly after where he was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and taken to hospital as a precaution.
Heathcote and Star were approached for comment.
