Man accused of sexually assaulting girl and making indecent comments

Ramsay Cumming is accused of sexual assault and directing indecent verbal communications to a girl on various occasions in New Cumnock.

The 49-year-old is also said to have made sexual comments to another child in Barrhill.

Court papers claim Cumming made indecent sexual remarks and attempted to engage the alleged female victim in conversations of an indecent and sexual nature on various occasions between January 2019 and December 2021.

The alleged offences are said to have been committed for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification or of humiliating, distressing, or alarming her.

The same charge claims he sexually assaulted the youngster on various occasions, allegedly slapping her buttocks, grabbing her breasts, and entering her bed whilst naked.

Prosecutors claim he pressed his body against the girl and stroked her body, intentionally exposed himself in a sexual manner with the intention that she would see his privates, and walked around naked in her presence.

Cumming, whose address was given as Lochans, faces a second charge of directing a sexual verbal communication at a different child on various occasions.

The Crown’s indictment alleges he attempted to engage the boy in conversations of an indecent nature from December 2021 and July 2022, “for the purpose of obtaining sex gratification or humiliating, distressing or alarming” the alleged victim.

A motion to adjourn the first diet hearing to a new date was granted at Ayr Sheriff Court, with the case continued without plea.

He will face the allegations later in the New Year.
