WALKING group members have raised more than £5,000 for charity on a tour of Forest war memorials.
Now in its fifth year, Lymington Remembrance Walkers covered 15 miles to lay wreathes and pay their respects to the fallen at 10 Forest memorials.
A mixture of veterans and civilians, the walkers raised £4,549 through sponsorships and support from local businesses.

With the addition of Gift Aid, the final total reached £5,595, which they will be donating to Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity which supports the bereaved children of services personnel.

A spokesperson for the group said the lifetime total they handed over to Scotty’s is £11,872.
In previous years the group has raised some £6,800 for Lymington’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, and other amounts for the New Milton based Pilgrim Bandits Charity.

Pennington walking club chair Andy Miller said: “We’re already looking forward to 2025 where we’re aiming to push through the lifetime £20,000 total.

“Some of our walkers, like first-timer Sophie May, were elated at the experience, and has already penciled in 2nd November 2025 to do it all again.”
The fundraising walk took the group via Pennington Sports and Social Club, Lymington Hospital, The King’s Arms, and the Lymington War Memorial near St Thomas’ Church.
