A recent investigation by Worcester News revealed that over 800 noise complaints were made to Worcester City Council – most of which were residents complaining about their neighbours.
Exactly 867 recorded noise complaints were made in Worcester between October 1, 2021, and October 1, 2024, with 59.1 percent of complaints about domestic properties.

It comes after Warndon councillor Jill Desayrah revealed that the most frequent noise complaints to her involve barking or whining dogs.
The area with the highest complaints was the Cathedral Ward, which largely covers the city centre, with 136 overall complaints being made from the area.
However, the second highest number covered the large residential area of the Warndon Ward – a ranking city Councillor Jill Desayrah said is unsurprising.
“I’m sorry, but not in the least surprised to hear that Warndon generates so many noise complaints,” she said.

“I am contacted by residents regularly as they seek help with noise abatement measures.
“The most frequent noise complaints I get relate to barking and whining dogs in homes.
“Here, enforcement through Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS) can very often be effective, and the suffering of neighbours and animals alike is reduced, so it’s well worth getting them involved in such cases.
“Anyone suffering from any sort of noise nuisance issue can report it by going to the WRS website. They are also welcome to contact me and I will help where I can.”
A spokesperson for Worcester City Council said noise complaints are not something it will comment on.
The Warndon area received 60 noise complaints over the three years, followed by St John’s and Arboretum, which were joint third with 56.
Data by Worcester City Council also found the quietest place in the city was Broadheath with only one complaint made in three years.
