Letter: Fisherton Street corner causing more trouble for drivers

Whilst the idea of putting up a railing as a ‘visual cue’ for negotiating the corner means well, it’s just an invitation for another vehicle to once again get it wrong and demolish it.

The problems encountered by drivers scraping their vehicles get no sympathy from me.It begs the question about their driving ability.

If they can’t manage a sharp corner then they are obviously in danger of knocking down a pedestrian on another sharp corner with no ‘visual cue’ and no high curb for protection.

My experience of turning from Southwestern Road and under Fisherton Street Bridge goes like this:

1.  I look at the road properly to note the hazards

2. I have a complete awareness of my vehicle’s dimensions

3. I drive accordingly, focusing my mind on the path the back wheels of my vehicle are likely to take.

Instead of compensating drivers for their vehicle’s damage maybe the council could donate some money to give them refresher driving lessons.
