King Street Arms, formerly Earl St Vincent, in Ramsgate up for sale for £365,000

A 200-year-old pub where its grand reopening was celebrated less than a year ago has gone back up for sale.

Shaun Todd swooped in to save the almost-200-year-old boozer in King Street, Ramsgate last year – even rebranding the King Street Arms after its namesake road.

But after just eight months in charge, the property has gone up for sale for £365,000 – though estate agent Sidney Phillips is hopeful of seeing it remain “a popular watering hole for a wide variety of clientele of different ages”.

The firm said: “The King Street Arms is a growing business and would suit a hands-on operator who wanted to continue to operate the business as a community public house.”

It is understood the pub has prospered since reopening, whereby the new owner is in no rush to get a deal over the line.

Trading as a wet-only pub, it boasts a pool team while efforts to establish football and darts sides are underway.

Inside, there is a single bar with a central servery and a Heineken Smart Dispense system – state-of-the-art equipment designed to keep beer in prime condition.

On the market as a freehold, the establishment has limited seating in favour of standing though, it is thought there could be room for between 30 to 50 seats.

Outside, there is a patio which could host a similar number of seats while there are TVs, pub games machines and even a jukebox to entertain customers.

It also comes with a three-bed accommodation above the pub, meaning any potential owner could make it their home as well as their livelihood.

News of the sale comes little more than a year after its previous owner announced she would be leaving the pub, then known as the Earl St Vincent.

Kirsty Bailey, who took over the reins in 2022 after the death of her father, acknowledged it had been a hard choice to make but stated she needed to “find myself again”.

Before Kirsty’s stint, the boozer had been under the care of Derek ‘Sticky’ Bailey for 15 years.

It first opened in 1828 and has remained a mainstay in the area ever since.
