Jack Caldwell will now move into full-time football with Glasgow Rangers after putting pen to paper on a pro contract.
The 15-year-old started his footballing journey as part of his local team, Kilwinning Rangers 2008.
Since then he moved into the academy at Rangers where he has flourished in his role at right fullback.
The teen has also starred on the national stage and has been capped for Scotland at both under-16 and 17 level.
This latest step in his career, as well as playing the sport full-time, will see Jack become involved in the Gers’ under-18s side to continue his development moving forward.
Technical director at the Ibrox club, Nils Koppen, was full of praise for the Kilwinning youngster when his new deal with the club was announced on Tuesday, January 14.
He said: “We are very pleased to welcome Jack into the full-time environment here at Rangers.
“Jack has progressed through our academy and now moves into our under-18s group, where he will be supported through our education programme, marking an exciting step in his development on and off the pitch.
“We look forward to supporting Jack as he continues to develop and progress here at Rangers.”
While his former club Kilwinning Rangers were quick to congratulate Jack on making the step up.
A spokesperson said: “Well done to former Buffs youth player and local Kilwinning lad, Jack Caldwell, who has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Glasgow Rangers FC.
“Jack started his footballing journey at the Buffs with our 2008 team before signing pro-youth with Rangers. Jack has flourished in the Rangers Academy and has also represented Scotland.
“He will now make the move into full-time football and be involved in the Gers’ under-18s side to continue his development moving forward.
“Well done Jack. Hard work and talent is paying off and it’s another proud moment for his parents, Stewart and Gillian.”
