Before the election took place, I spoke to the now Prime Minister while he was on the campaign trail in Basingstoke.
Like many, I am tired of empty promises from politicians who say things to get votes.
That’s why I would like to share with you a petition launched by the Gazette demanding the Health Secretary fulfils the promise of building a new hospital in Basingstoke.

Wouldn’t it be nice if, for once, a promise from a politician was kept?
The Basingstoke Gazette is calling on the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, to:
- Honour the government’s promises by prioritising the construction of the new Basingstoke hospital, deemed urgent.
- Share a definitive timeline for the construction, bringing an end to the uncertainty around this.
- Secure and dedicate appropriate funding for the construction of the new hospital.
Our town is crying out for a new hospital as it battles to deal with the high demand with long waiting lists and overcrowded beds.
Last year the Gazette launched a campaign to Build Our Hospital, backed by political leaders from across Basingstoke and now we are going one step further with our new petition which you can sign by visiting https://www.change.org/p/demand-health-secretary-fulfils-promise-of-a-new-hospital-in-basingstoke
Please support our plea for action. Sign our petition, share it with family and friends, and help ensure our long-awaited, much-needed new hospital is finally built.
The Prime Minister told me a new hospital will be built, let’s see if he delivers.
