Worcester’s Kays Theatre Group are to perform The Glass Slipper at the Swan Theatre, The Moors, from Thursday, January 23 until Sunday, February 2.
It will be a special pantomime for the group as they have have been going for 70 years.
Founder and president Pat Milton, who worked for Kay and Co, is turning 91 this month and will appear on stage for every performance — 14 in all — albeit just for a brief moment.
The Glass Slipper has been specially written for Kays by Paul Tate and the story begins at the wedding party of Cinderella and Prince Charming.
There will be plenty of fun with the Ugly Sisters, The Fairy Godfather, Buttons, the Wicked Stepmother Grizelda, Ivor the Viking, Queen Esmeralda and two unicorns.
Grizelda has been banished to Iceland and when transformed into the Snow Queen she returns to claim the Glass Slipper that she believes to be hers so that she can wreck the marriage and marry Prince Charming.
The Harlequin dancers are the icing on the cake of the performance.
Paula Dymock, of Harlequin Stage School, is director along with Rachel Sedgley who has been involved with Kays for many years.
They are hoping it will be a huge success and tickets are priced at £13.50.
