Dr Patrick Hart, 38, was handed a 12-month sentence by Judge Mills at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday for his role in a Just Stop Oil demonstration at Thurrock Motorway Services on the M25, in Grays, in August 2022.
This comes after Hart was found guilty in October 2024 of criminal damage.
The Bristol-based GP hit the pumps with a hammer, sprayed them with orange paint, and interfered with the refuelling of vehicles.

The damage took place after Hart and four other activists breached a High Court injunction by blocking access to the petrol station.
Essex County Council confirmed the cost of repair to the pumps was £9,376.
Speaking at the court, the doctor called the damage an “act of care” and said he did not regret his actions.
He will now face a tribunal with the General Medical Council, an independent regulator of doctors.
Hart had previously been involved in a pitch invasion at Twickenham in May 2023 where he disrupted the Premiership Rugby final between Saracens and Sale.
He had thrown orange cornflour on to the pitch.
