Jungle Mania in Golden Square handed one-star food hygiene rating

Town centre soft play unit Jungle Mania was recently visited by environmental officers from Warrington Borough Council.

Following the routine inspection on December 4, a report was prepared, and the rating has now been published on the Food Standards Agency website.

This shows that Jungle Mania was handed a one-out-of-five score, which states that ‘major improvement is necessary.

As well as overall ratings, food premises are graded in three individual areas, namely hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety.

The first looks at the hygienic handling of food, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.

The second covers the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.

Management of food safety encompasses systems or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, as well as evidence that staff know about food safety.

It also covers whether the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in the future.

In the first category, Jungle Mania was said to be ‘generally satisfactory’.

But in terms of the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, the venue was said to require ‘necessary improvement’.

In terms of management of food safety, inspectors ruled that the venue requires ‘major improvement’.
