The historic Deer Park and Walled Gardens, in the grounds of Raby Castle, near Staindrop, and the High Force waterfall, at Forest-in-Teesdale, are opening to help visitors “blow off the cobwebs” and, “combat the January blues”.
Claire Jones, head of leisure and tourism at Raby Estates, said: “Whilst still in the depths of winter, January is an optimistic time, filled with resolutions and new routines.
“We want to share everything Raby has to offer so that people can enjoy it as many times as they’d like.
(Image: Raby Estates) “Our visitors can make the most of winter landscapes, fresh air, and wildlife, all on offer throughout January.”
A ticket to the Deer Park and Walled Gardens will allow walkers to explore the ancient grounds and amble at their leisure through the recently renovated gardens, created by renowned designer Luciano Giubbilei and Lady Barnard.
Tickets to the spectacular High Force waterfall are also part of the offer.
(Image: Raby Estates) Suitable for all levels of walkers, the circular route highlights the beauty of the cascading waterfall and younger visitors will also be entertained with a woodland sculpture trail along the way.
(Image: Andy Wilkinson) There are also ‘Social Sundays’ taking place throughout the month at Raby Castle, Park and Gardens, which include a guided walk around the picturesque deer park, plus a ‘Blue Monday’ gathering in The Vinery, on January 20, when some of Raby’s team will be on hand to chat and lift spirits, while visitors enjoy a slice of cake and a hot drink.
Raby Castle’s Christmas in the Entrance Hall experience also remains available into the New Year until Sunday (January 5), to add to the visit.
The unlimited January offer applies to High Force and to Deer Park and Walled Gardens tickets purchased up to January 31.
