Italian fashion expert hosting women’s wellbeing event

Erika Conti, 44, says she is “really excited” about hosting the event, which aims to promote positivity for women who are going through various changes from puberty to having babies.

She added: “The main objective is to create awareness about how to look after ourselves and embrace changes.”

Erika, who is originally from the Amalfi Coast in Italy and moved to the UK in 2002, owns the Italian fashion showroom, Solo Mia, based in Pitt Hall Farm, which opened on November 28.

She is hosting the event, which will be held in Monk Sherborne Village Hall at 7pm on Thursday, February 6, in order to raise money for Stop Domestic Abuse.

The event, which includes a complimentary glass of prosecco, will see various experts in different fields, among them are a GP, a nutritionist and a fitness instructor, who will give talks and “cover all aspects of change,” Erika said.

She continued: “I see so many people coming through my showroom who are struggling with change, whether it is the menopause or they are retiring, suffering from breast cancer and abusive relationships, I really wanted to do something to help local people in the community.”

Erika explained how she will help people with their confidence, discuss body shapes and sizes and share some Italian fashion.

“The event is all about embracing change. Changes affect the way we feel, we look, how we dress and present ourselves.

“I will be selling merch and all the profits will go to the charity. I previously held an event during lockdown which raised £1,700, it was online and we made goodie bags and because of social distancing people had to come and collect them.

“I’m also holding another charity event on March 6, it will be a fashion show in the showroom and I have another in May with the Pink Place. I try to do three or four a year to support the community and share fashion.”
