Isobel Andrews, 21, was recognised for her hard work at Smith England salon as she was named ‘future talent’ at an awards ceremony in London

The event was held in November at the Leonardo Royal Hotel at St Paul’s in central London, which saw more than 950 people shortlisted across several categories over three days.
The recognition came after a lengthy application process, where Isobel had to fill out a questionnaire, send in two videos – one of her working and one of her talking about her application, an essay and social media pages.
Isobel said: “The award just shows young talent coming through – you’re doing something well. Especially in Salisbury, where there’s so many hairdressers, you’ve just got to fight for clients and give them a reason to sit in your chair.”

She is now a senior tech at the salon and proud winner of two ‘future talent awards’ as well as being named ‘colour technician of the year’ in 2023 at the South West hair awards, having completed her NVQ level four training with Toni and Guy in London.
She mainly works on colouring hair, but is keen to continue upskilling with further practice of short haircuts and men’s haircuts in the next year.
Her team were so happy with her award that she was even awarded with the “Smith England Excellence Award” in December.
Isobel said: “It’s not just the service of good hairdressing, also just having a chat. People just like to come and have a friendly face and someone to chat to.
“I love a chin wag, I’m a chatterbox and I’m here as someone to listen. I try to do consultations really thoroughly and just listen to them.”
