Ipswich Borough Council calls for review into Special Food Store, in St Helen’s Street, over concerns with crime and disorder

A council has called for a review into the licence of a food store in Ipswich town centre.

Debbie Devine, from Ipswich Borough Council, has raised concerns that Special Food Store, in St Helen’s Street, may be involved in crime and disorder.

Representations should be submitted to Ipswich’s licensing and regulatory committee before January 6.

According to the council’s website, the next licensing and regulatory committee meeting will not take place until February 26.

This is the sixth review into an Ipswich business in the past few months.

Supper Club, in Tacket Street, had its licence saved despite concerns raised by Suffolk Police.

The Waterlily, also in St Helen’s Street, was forced to close after its licence was revoked last week.

Last month, A Listers At Aurora, on the waterfront, had the terms of its licence changed after complaints of unbearable noise and crime.

In addition, Café Nos Terra, in Norwich Road, also had its licence revoked after a police officer was placed into a headlock – and other, drug-related incidents.

Bar A to Z, in Great Colman Street, was also facing pressure from officers but managed to save its licence despite multiple breaches.
