Along with the rest of the country the Highlands missed out on a white Christmas – but recent days have seen a return to more typically wintry conditions.

Readers have been quick to end in their snaps of the white stuff as it has impacted on their areas, some seeing little more than a light dusting while others have been more significantly impacted.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued by The Met Office for the region, currently in place from 4pm today until noon tomorrow.

Snow showers will continue for the rest of today and into Tuesday morning bringing further accumulations of two to five cm in places, and five to 10 cm above 200 metres across northern Scotland. Showers will initially fall as rain or sleet at lower levels this evening, leading to a risk of icy stretches.
