Two local schools are warning pupils about throwing snowballs near school buildings.
Charleston Academy in Inverness and Nairn Academy have set designated areas for snowball fights and urged youngsters to target only those wishing to take part.
The warning came as heavy snowfalls again hit the Highlands overnight, with many schools in the Highland Council area closed as a result.
Charleston Academy warned pupils on social media: “Snowballs should only be thrown in areas away from the school or other buildings/cars.
“They should not be thrown at people not participating. Snowballs should not be brought into school.”
A warning for Nairn Academy pupils reads: “As we don’t see snow very often, we appreciate pupils may want to enjoy snowballing.
“It is important we do this safely to avoid any accidents. The designated snowball area is on the hill where we meet for fire evacuation.
“This means that pupils are away from the school building, windows, doors, car park areas etc.
“Pupils are asked to please not throw snowballs in other areas, but keep to this designated area.
“If pupils do not wish to get involved in snowballing, they should avoid this area at the front gates.”
