However, let me introduce you to Lush’s latest invention – the Bath Bot.
I’ve been a loyal customer of the handmade cosmetic brand for as long as I can remember. You name it, they’ve got it.
Need to tackle a spot breakout? or just need a bit of a self-care pick-me-up? A bubble bar or face mask will sort you out.

However, before this week I’d never ventured to Lush for technology.
But behold the Lush Bath Bot, also known as a “bathing companion” you never knew you needed, offering 180-degree sound and synchronised full-spectrum multidirectional lights, set to “revolutionise the bathroom experience” (indeed it does).
This water-resistant dome convex-shaped device is identical in size and shape to Lush’s legendary bath bomb, bringing an explosion of immersive colour and sound to create a bespoke, “super-powered” sensory bathing or shower experience.
So what did I think the Bath Bot brings to the bathroom? Let’s find out.
Lush’s Bath Bot got rid of my January blues
I love how incredibly easy it is to use (and how much it looks like a bath bomb) – just download the Lush app, turn it on and hold the play/pause button to pair with your phone via Bluetooth and you’re off.
Do you have any bathroom tech gadgets? (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest) Then choose from endless audio tracks and light shows via the Lush app, whether you’re looking to create the world’s smallest disco with Rave mode and upbeat dance tracks, or drift off into pure relaxation with Sleep mode and soothing meditation melodies, whatever your mood, you can match it with the Bath Bot.
Fun fact, you can also play your own music and podcasts too, through the lights of Spotify and YouTube.
I can’t really believe it but the Bath Bot allowed me to switch off as soon as I plonked it in the water, along with Lush’s iconic Intergalactic bath bomb.
I have quite a deep bath and the lights made the entire tub glow with blue and green hues, as the bath bomb shimmer swirled around underwater – transforming it into some magical Disney-like ocean scene.
I was rather impressed with the Bath Bot (Image: Molly Court/Newsquest)But best of all was how loud and clear the speaker was – not to mention the surprise feature of the water bubbles dancing on top to the beat of the music.
Even better, the Bath Bot doesn’t tip over in the bath, which was my main concern. It simply floats around, with the lights submerged and the speaker peeking above the water.
I liked how once I was in the bath, I could just dump my phone and let my chosen playlist do the rest – for the first time in a very long time, I went a good 15 minutes without needing to reach for my phone, think about the never-ending jobs I needed to do or worry about the little things.
I just watched the Bath Bot do its thing and I think I came out of the bath as a newly revitalised human (goodbye January blues).

As a side note, you don’t just need to use it in the bath or shower, as it could be used just as well as a speaker on the go, wherever you are (it even comes with its own wireless charging dock).
The Bath Bot will set you back £150, which I do think is a tad expensive for what it is, even though I’m a fan.
Wondering how it’s made? Bath Bot has been conceived by Lush’s in-house tech team and manufactured in the UK.

It’s sustainable, vegan and water resistant and offers a solution to e-waste as it is engineered without the use of glue (animal-derived or otherwise) which means it’s easier to disassemble if required and be reassembled by Lush for future use.

Available in the UK and Ireland on lush.com, Bath Bot, priced at £150, launched on November 27.
