Hurcott Road: Update for tenants as blocks of flats to be demolished

Community Housing announced a plan to knock down the three high-rise buildings, Coniston House, Windermere House and Derwent House, off Hurcott Road, in 2023.

The housing association has been sourcing alternative accommodation for tenants for the “70+ households affected.”

In an update, Community Housing said that they will be holding a meeting to inform tenants about the upcoming demolition of the tower blocks on Hurcott Road.

On Facebook, Community Housing said: “We are hosting two customer information sessions to ensure everyone has the opportunity to attend and stay informed about the project.

“These sessions will provide details on how the demolition will be carried out, along with a chance to ask any questions you may have”.

The meeting will be held at St George’s Annexe, Radford Avenue, Kidderminster DY10 2ES on Wednesday, January 15.

The meetings will take place at 10am and 6pm.

Community Housing, which provides homes and services in Wyre Forest, previously said it is “not feasible” to extend the lifespans of the buildings due to the nature of their construction.

There are also plans to redevelop the area with more energy-efficient, modern homes.
