Hexham MP Joe Morris said: “I would like to take this opportunity in my first column of 2025 to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
“My team is now back to normal working hours after having a well-deserved break and I am very pleased to announce we have officially moved into our new office space in Hexham’s iconic Queen’s Hall.
“It also gives me great pleasure to share the news of my engagement to my wonderful partner of seven years. I proposed to Hana, with the help of our dog Roy, in December and we are planning on saying our vows here in the constituency in the not-so-distant future.”

“It has been fantastic to see our community come together recently in this cold weather and enjoying the age-old tradition of sledging on the Sele, a memory that takes me back to my school days. However, I know that the recent arrival of ice and snow is not welcome by all and has the potential to cause serious disruption.
“If you are having mobility issues associated with the weather, please don’t hesitate to contact me at joe.morris.mp@parliament.uk and I will ensure we get you the help you need.
“2024 was undoubtedly a huge year in politics for the North East from electing our first North East Mayor and seeing the beginning of increased devolution to myself and 25 Labour colleagues being elected to the House of Commons.
“I am looking forward to leaving a huge year of elections behind me and pushing on into 2025, continuing the work that this government has started to enact real change in constituencies like ours.
“As I have said before, restoring public trust in politics remains paramount to my work in 2025. It is important to me that constituents here see and feel the benefits of this government’s policies. This constituency is my home, it is where I was raised, where my partner and I will start our family and I will always champion the communities that make up our area.
“This year I will continue to speak about the economic opportunities for our constituency, advocating for investment and our fair share of resources. And I will draw on conversations I have had with constituents, campaign groups and local schools to raise awareness for the environmental challenges we are facing as a country.
