Henge: An Out-of-This-World Musical Experience

During November 2024 I went to the Corn Exchange in Newport to watch a live band.

If you know me well, my musical experience is a bit, well, magnolia. No cliche, but Henge are out of this planet. Google them.

The gig was a lesson in how much fun you can by going out and just having a laugh. Yes, I mean no, I don’t know a single word of any song but I got the vibe that no one there did- only here for fun and entertainment.

A member of Henge

Unique is an overused word in life but I can 100 per cent (also overused) that you’ve never seen anything like Henge. If you want to be able to singalong to some well-worn lyrics then this isn’t the band for you.

If you want an (almost) out-of-body experience of lyrics, music and band members then Henge are one for you. The most local link I can make is that as I was writing this on my mobile phone a member of Goldie Lookin’ Chain was a few yards away buying a can of Red Stripe Lager at the bar next to me.

GLC smashed CrowFest held last summer in Cwmbran so they know good tunes. The next time you see a band that you’ve never heard of, remember that Oasis were unknown until people just got tickets and went out for fun and a laugh. Simple.
