Hearth restaurant shortlisted for Good Food Guide Awards 2025

Hearth, which is a restaurant at Heckfield Place, was among the six places shortlisted for the category.

Additionally, it was the only establishment in the county that was featured in any of the categories.

The Good Food Guide revealed the nominees for its annual awards today (Wednesday, January 8).

The winners will be announced in a ceremony at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London on Monday, February 3.

Chloë Hamilton, co-editor of The Good Food Guide, said: “This year’s shortlist is a magnificent mix of starry names alongside some brilliant lesser-known talent that anyone interested in restaurants should be taking note of.

“If last year’s ceremony is anything to go by, our return to Theatre Royal Drury Lane is set to be a huge night of celebration with some revelations to remember.”

The full list of nominees for their 2025 awards can be found on the website here.

How has Hearth been received?

Hearth is a restaurant that’s part of the Heckfield Place hotel (with a 4.5/5 Tripadvisor score) and is centred on an open fire.

Its website describes the cooking as “simple and heartfelt” using “classic” methods and “the very best produce available on the day”.

Their menus are directed by Skye Gyngell which evolve constantly “reflecting the availability of produce from the estate, and from our partners at Fern Verrow”.

Dishes available on the sample menu include confit duck leg with braised lentils and radicchio as well as roasted squash agnolotti with brown butter and sage.

The actual restaurant is said to have an “intimate and relaxed dining space” as well as an outdoor courtyard for alfresco dining.

Its website adds: “Hearth was once the estate stables, and the sympathetic conversion retains all the of the warmth, textures and character of the original building.”

In a review of Hearth on the Good Food Guide website, the restaurant was highly praised.

They wrote: “Located in the vaulted former stable yard, Hearth is the more relaxed place to eat, centred on a huge open fire over which everything is prepared.

“Despite the elemental cooking method, the food is always thoughtful and delicate, but with the fire comes warmth, conviviality and fun.

“Settle on the sheepskin-draped chairs and choose from a sharing menu, allowing at least two dishes per person – bear in mind they become more substantial as you progress through the list.”
