Haverhill music teacher Lynn Bond receives Suffolk County Councillor Award

An ‘inspirational’ music teacher has received a Suffolk County Councillor Award.

Lynn Bond received the award from Cllr Heike Sowa, one of the three county councillors for Haverhill, during an assembly at Samuel Ward Academy.

Cllr Sowa said of Mrs Bond: “She inspires, encourages and motivates with her continuous commitment to music. I was honoured to present her with the Suffolk County Councillor Award.”

Her students, added Cllr Sowa, have now achieved 36 Grade 8 successes and six diplomas in various musical instruments/theory.

Some 25 students have gone onto music related careers and five have become music directors. Mrs Bond has taught many music lessons at Samuel Ward voluntarily, building up a school orchestra.

She voluntarily runs the Easy Notes band for adult beginners in Haverhill, so musicians at all levels can play for free and covers the costs of hiring the hall privately.
