Prepare for an “unnerving night of suspense and mystery” as The Nonentities presents The Turn of the Screw, an adaptation by Ken Whitmore of Henry James’ classic gothic novella.
The drama society has said its production explores the thin veil between reality and the supernatural, promising a theatrical experience that will keep audiences questioning if they can trust what they are seeing and hearing.
Set in a remote countryside manor, The Turn of the Screw follows a young governess tasked with caring for two orphaned children. As she encounters strange occurrences and ghostly apparitions, the line between truth and madness blurs in this gripping psychological thriller.
“This story is timeless in its exploration of fear, perception, and the unknown and we’re excited to bring a fresh perspective to this eerie masterpiece”, says Director Louise Fulwell.
The production will feature a talented cast led by Beth Grainger, Melanie Jones and Chris Kay from The Nonentities with two members from the Rose Theatre youth company KRYPT, Halle Newton and Ripley Taylor O’Sullivan in the roles of the orphans.
The atmospheric set designed by Jen Eglinton and the evocative sound and lighting design create a “visually compelling and immersive world” for this chilling tale. The drama society added: “Don’t miss this spine-tingling theatrical event that will leave you questioning what is real and what is imagined.”
The Turn of the Screw will run from January 27 to February 1 at The Rose Theatre, Broadwaters. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.rosetheatre.co.uk or at the box office at 01562 743745.
