Sophie Bartlett, head of school at Hartlebury CE Primary, has been put forward for the title of Headteacher/Principal of the Year.
Her nomination, by parent governor Charlene Measom, came as a New Year surprise to Mrs Bartlett, who has spent her entire 22-year teaching career at the school, which is part of the Severn Academies Educational Trust.
Miss Measom described her as a “committed” and “amazing” person who “always goes above and beyond for the children and the school.”
Mrs Bartlett said: “Starting my career at Hartlebury 22 years ago as a newly qualified teacher, I never imagined the incredible journey I would embark on.
“The privilege of working alongside such wonderful children, supportive families and dedicated staff makes every day a rewarding experience. It is an honour to serve the community and I am incredibly grateful for this recognition.”
Shelley Reeves-Walters, executive headteacher for the trust’s primary schools, said: “Sophie is one of our valued team of exceptional teachers and leaders and I am delighted that her dedication and commitment has been acknowledged.
“Her nomination is particularly impressive coming from a parent and a governor, someone who can see her impact on both the children and behind the scenes, on her staff and in the management of the school.”
