Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire stars in Yorkshire Tea ad

The 60-year-old actor, known for her portrayal of police officer Catherine Cawood, stars in a new advert for Yorkshire Tea.

A minute-long clip, which debuted on Wednesday, sees Ms Lancashire tasked with uncovering the culprit behind the theft of biscuits at the tea brand’s headquarters.

Her no-nonsense interrogation style, reminiscent of her two-time BAFTA winning character, helps her solve the case.

A voice-over at the end of the ad then says: “Yorkshire Tea, where everything’s done properly.”

Speaking about her role, Ms Lancashire said: “I’m thrilled to join the Yorkshire Tea family and to spearhead the investigation of who stole Pat’s biscuits.”

She added that she wouldn’t reveal “who the guilty party is, but they were a worthy adversary.

“You will just have to watch the advert to find out.”

It centres on office politics and the much-loved combination of tea and biscuits.

The campaign has previously featured actors Sean Bean and Sir Patrick Stewart in separate storylines.

The new advert will be shown across UK TV channels, on streaming platforms Netflix and Amazon Prime, and in cinemas.

According to Statista, Yorkshire Tea is one of the most popular brands of tea in the UK, alongside PG Tips, Tetley, Twinings, and Typhoo.
