An activity attraction at a Kent shopping centre could soon start serving food.
Hangloose Adventure at Bluewater is seeking permission to serve hot food in its reception dome.

The London-based firm has run England’s longest and fastest zipwire over the lakes outside the Greenhithe mall since June 2021, with the giant swing then opening in August 2022. It also offers a skydive experience and an aerial trek course.
In September last year, Hangloose was given permission to expand its operation with an aqua park which is open in the summer and cold water swimming which is on offer all year round.
Originally, the permission for watersports facilities included a condition stating that hot food will not be served at the site.
However, Hangloose has applied to Dartford council to remove that condition so it can open a kitchen underneath the dome used as a reception area.

“The kitchen will serve hot and drinks food to customers and spectators,” the company writes in planning documents.
“At present, participants have access to cold snacks and drinks. However, as new activities have been built out, the dwell time on site is longer.
“There might be a half-hour or 40-minute wait between booked activities. It is not long enough to walk the 15 minutes each way, order a hot snack, and eat it in the mall.
“Similarly, participants’ guardians may be on site for up to three hours.

“The site operating procedure requires under-18s to have an adult on site.
“Furthermore, parents and other group members want to watch participants rather than go off and do something else.
“Providing hot food and drink would make it a better experience.”
The planning application states that the kitchen will be accessible only to staff and not the public. Food will be delivered to a servery in Dome 2.

As part of its watersports offering, Hangloose also built a floating viewing platform with space for more than 150 people.
It is not yet known when Dartford council will decide on the bid but an internal deadline of February 6 has been set.
