The Christmas fare, served by Ellen’s “elves,” included soup, turkey, beef, roast potatoes, trifle, and Christmas pudding with custard. Rolls, bread, cakes, cheese, biscuits with grapes, hot drinks, and juice were also served.
By 3pm, more tea was served in time for the King’s speech on television. The event was supported by local organizations, businesses, and individuals. Those who attended for the first time were eager to share their wonderful experience with isolated friends.
